Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has introduced a new through-hole inductor that delivers a 420 A saturation current in a 1500 case size. Designed to replace larger solutions in renewable energy, industrial, and telecom applications, the Vishay Dale IHXL-1500VZ-51 offers very low typical direct current resistance (DCR) down to 0.12 mΩ and a continuous high temperature operation to 155°C.
The inductor’s shielded, composite construction enables a compact size of 38.1 × 38.1 × 21.9 mm to support up to 150 A of continuous DC current. This allows the IHXL-1500VZ-51 to replace larger competing solutions in high-current input filters and DC/DC converters, said Vishay, for high-temperature industrial and solar and wind power applications, in addition to switching regulators, differential mode and boost power factor correction chokes, and telecom base station power supplies.
The IHXL-1500VZ-51 through-hole inductor offers an inductance range of 0.68 to 3.3 µH and a typical DCR of 0.12 to 0.40 mΩ (DCR max is 0.13 to 0.42 mΩ). The operating temperature range is -55°C to 155°C
The IHXL-1500VZ-51 handles high transient current spikes without hard saturation. The device is RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green, and offers high resistance to thermal shock, moisture, and mechanical shock.
Vishay also recently introduced the Vishay Dale IHVR-4024KE-51 high-current inductor that claims 50% lower DCR than typical power inductors for improved efficiency in high frequency DC/DC converters. It also provides high temperature operation up 155°C.
Samples and production quantities of the IHXL-1500VZ-51 are available now, with lead times of eight to 10 weeks. Pricing for U.S. delivery starts at $7.50.
